Academic Decathlon

What is Academic Decathlon?:
Academic Decathlon is an annual high school nationwide competition sponsored and organized by the United States Academic Decathlon (USAD.org.) Academic Decathlon challenges students to grow academically, socially, and personally. Each year, students study and compete in a broad range of subjects including art, economics, literature, math, music, science, and social science. Students also compete in speech, essay, and interview events.
At Sierra High School, our Academic Decathlon team is more than just a class — it is a community of students (Decathletes) who work together to challenge themselves, build friendships, and achieve success at competitions.
Competitions:
Academic Decathlon competitions are an opportunity for decathletes to showcase their knowledge, confidence, and skills. Decathletes compete in ten events:
- Art
- Economics
- Literature
- Mathematics
- Music
- Science
- Social Science
- Essay
- Interview
- Speech
About the Team:
Our team is made up of decathletes from all GPA and grade levels. Everyone has a place in Academic Decathlon. Whether you love the arts, math, science, writing or public speaking, there is a subject or event for you to showcase your talents.
Guided by our dedicated coach, Mrs. Andrade, our team works hard during study sessions, prepares thoroughly for competitions, and supports one another every step of the way while having fun.
